Why did AMBI discontinue Fade Cream with 2% hydroquinone?
Under the 2020 CARES Act reforms to over-the-counter drug rules, FDA no longer allows skin-lightening products containing hydroquinone to be sold without a prescription. Hydroquinone products are now available only with a prescription from a licensed healthcare provider. AMBI's Even & Clear Fade collection is hydroquinone-free and is formulated to help improve the look of dark spots and uneven tone. Talk to your doctor or dermatologist about prescription options.
How do I know whether to buy the Fade Cream , Fade Serum Retinol or the Advanced Fade Cream?
- Fade Serum Retinol: for those who want to improve skin texture, reduce dark marks and even skin tone. Suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin.
- Fade Cream: for those with moderate dark spots. Can be used day and/or night. Suitable for all skin types.
- Advanced Fade Cream: for those with stubborn dark spots. Can be used day and/or night. Suitable for all skin types.
When do I use the Fade Serum Retinol?
We recommend use at night since the formulation contains retinol, which can increase skin’s sensitivity to the sun. Always apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen in the morning, while using retinol products.
Can Fade Serum Retinol be used daily?
Yes. Per our recommendation, begin use two evenings a week then gradually increase frequency to every other night, and finally once an evening as tolerated.
Can this product be used all over my face or as a spot treatment?
Yes. Our Fade Serum Retinol product is to be applied evenly all over the face. Avoid contact with eyes & lips. If contact occurs, rinse thoroughly with water.
Can I use the Fade Serum Retinol in combination with Fade Cream or Advanced Fade Cream?
Yes. The Fade Cream or Advanced Fade Cream can be used in your morning routine of the same day with the Fade Serum Retinol, which is recommended for use during your evening/night routine. Always remember to use a sunscreen during the day.
How is Encapsulated Retinol different than other retinols?
Encapsulated retinols are more stable and decreases the potential for skin irritation.
Will the Fade Serum Retinol product have a bleaching effect on my pillow overnight similar to using hydroquinone or benzoyl peroxide?
No. Our new Fade Cream & Fade Serum Retinol products will not cause bleaching or discoloration to fabric.
